It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved brother, John Joseph Vincent MacKinnon. Vince was just 65 when he lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011.
Vince the was oldest son of Ray and Irene (Gouthreau) MacKinnon.
He was born in North Sydney but spent the last 31 years as a heavy duty mechanic in Sedgewick, Alta. Some of Vince’s fondest memories were the times he returned to Cape Breton to visit with family and friends. A visit home always ended with a huge backyard barbeque with those whom he held most dear. One of Vince’s happiest moments was when he married the love of his life, Mary Peche, only four short years ago.
Vince leaves behind his wife, Mary; her children, Tammy (Brent), Jocelyn (Vaughn), Kelly (Tanya) and their children; brothers, Larry (Debbie), North Sydney, Ray, Ian (Lori), Jimmy (Michelle), Hardisty, Alta., Gilbert (Lori), Saskatoon; sisters, Irene (John), Estelle (Byron), North Sydney, Theresa (Henry), Marion (Bob), Winnipeg, Man.; sister-in-law, Debbie MacKinnon, Rosthern, Sask. and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Vince was predeceased by his brother, Anthony (1974); father, Ray (1994) and mother, Irene (2009).
A memorial mass will be held for Vince on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Fr. Patrick O’Neill presiding. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
