Patrick Dunne, aged 55 years, of Halifax, and formerly of Antigonish, N.S., died surrounded by family and friends, in Summerside, P.E.I., on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, after a remarkable journey with ALS. Born in Antigonish, N.S., he was the son of the late Joseph and Christina (Carter) Dunne. Survived by his brothers and sisters, Marie Salamoun-Dunne (Wassim Salamoun), Summerside, Leo (Patricia) Dunne, Calabogie, Ont., Joan Dunne, Dartmouth, N.S., Verna Dunne (Gerald Broderick), Lakevale, N.S., Claire Dunne (Paul McEachern), Livingstone’s Cove, N.S., Hugh Thomas (Dorota) Dunne, Ottawa, Ont., Margaret (John) Swinimer, Antigonish, N.S., special friends Gary and Barb Fulton, Halifax, N.S., and Linda Pelttari, Calgary, Alta. He will be cherished and lovingly missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his sister, Ruth Ann Simmons. Patrick was a long-time employee of CTV Atlantic and his colleges helped care for him during his illness. Resting at Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, then forwarded to the J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax, N.S., where funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. Reception to follow. Visiting hours Sunday at J. A Snow Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will take place later in St. Ninian’s Cemetery, Antigonish, N.S. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the QEII Foundation - Palliative Care Trust, or the Prince County Hospital Auxiliary - Integrated Palliative Care Program would be appreciated.
