ABERNETHY, WILLIAM ARTHUR BUCHANAN -
The death of Arthur “Art” Abernethy, husband of Gwendolyn “Gwen” Annie (Fraser) Abernethy, of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, September 1, 2011. Born in Tay Valley, NB, he was a son of the late William Abernethy and Caroline Buchanan. Art served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1940 - 1945. He began serving in Moncton and later served in Goose Bay, Labrador. He was a member of Gibson Memorial United Church, Knights of Pythias and Doakies. Art was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4. Besides his wife, Art is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Madsen (John) of Riverview, NB; four grandchildren, Kerrie Dollemont (Shawn) and their children, Ethan and Ashley; Patrick (Karen) and their children, Hunter and Hayden; Chandra Madsen, and Erin Madsen (Ronald Adams) and their children, Azuri and Taylen. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Clara Bell and Jean Smith; one brother, Malcolm Abernethy.
