MCCARTHY, Marie A. – April 11, 1923 - August 29, 2011. Passed peacefully away in the presence of her family, the late Marie A. McCarthy of Marystown, at St. Patrick’s Nursing Home in St. John’s on Monday, August 29, 2011, at the age of 88. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are children: Hilda Dray (Jim) of Paradise and their children: Maria (Brad), Katie, and Michael, Anne Marie Ryan (Lou) of Marystown and their children: Michael, Cheryl and Dennis, James McCarthy (Camilla) of Brantford, ON. and their child Jaclyn, Joseph McCarthy (Darlene) of St. John’s and their children: Melissa, Joshua, and Justin, and Leo McCarthy (Joan) of Oshawa, ON. and their children: Jamie Lee (Adrian), Jayson, and Jonathan; one great-grandchild Nathan; plus a large circle of family and friends. Pre-deceased by husband Lester, parents Thomas & Annie Ducey, and sisters: Cela Ducey & Alice Evans. Resting and visitation to take place at Wiseman’s Funeral Homes in Marystown on Tuesday, August 30th from 7 p.m .- 9 p.m., and Wednesday August 31st from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart RC Church in Marystown. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart RC Cemetery in Marystown. In Marie’s memory, donations may be made to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home or flowers gratefully accepted. A special thank-you for the excellent care Mom received from all of the staff of 3 east/west at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home.
