PETERSEN, HAZEL - At the Grand Falls General Hospital, September 2, 2011, Mrs. Hazel "Benny" Petersen of New Denmark passed away at the age of 90. She was the wife of the late Charles O. Petersen. Born at St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec in 1920, she was a daughter of the late Edmund Walter and Anna Elizabeth (Wing) Bennett. Mrs. Petersen was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 21. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the A.C.W. She is survived by three children, Jennifer Jensen (partner Wayne) of Saskatoon, SK, Jeffrey Petersen of Glendale, AZ and Stephen Petersen (Alma) of Grande Prairie, AB; six grandchildren, Jana Hanson, Julie Anne Quinn, Jaye Lee Jensen, Ashley, Kristen and Charlie Petersen; five great grandchildren, Ryan, Lucas, Carter, Eric and Lily Hazel; one brother, Lorne Bennett (Florence) of Lancaster, ON, as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Victor Bennett and a sister, Edith Bennett.
Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Monday ONLY, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 6th at 2 p.m. from St. Ansgar's Anglican Church, New Denmark with Rev. Robert Leblanc officiating, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.
