Joyce MacKeen

Joyce Marie MacKeen, 84 of Dartmouth formerly of Aspen, Guysborough County passed away September 3, 2011 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, NS.
Born in Saskatoon she was a daughter of the late William and Louise Catherine (Fraser) Cameron.
She was a resident of Aspen, Guysborough County for most of her life having spent the past 3 years in Dartmouth with her daughter Cathy and son-in-law Frank MacNeil.
She was a member of the Glenelg Presbyterian Church and a past member of the St. Mary’s Regional School Board. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Florence Fraser Chapter, Sherbrooke.
She enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards, auction 45’s, skip bo, and spending time at the beach with family and friends.
Many thanks to her “special caregiver” Chelsey. She was loved and will be missed by all.
She is survived by sons, Dennis (Elva), PEI; Gregory (Jane), Antigonish; daughter Cathy (Frank) MacNeil, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Shalan (Karu) Bate, PEI; Stefany MacKeen (Craig Magee), PEI; Shawn (Stephanie) MacKeen, Alberta; Karla MacKeen (Todd Cameron), Miramichi; Chelsey MacNeil (Matt Higgins), Dartmouth; great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Damien, Matteo, Griffin and Spencer, sister-in-law Natalie Cameron, Saskatoon.
She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Leslie MacKeen, brothers: Hugh Cameron and James Cameron, both of Saskatoon and Alex of Toronto.
Her remains will rest in the Kirk Memorial United Church, Glenelg for visiting from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Jane Johnston presiding. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Aspen.
