Edgar Valentine Francis of Eskasoni passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Rose (Gould) Francis.
In his spare time he liked to do carpentry and mechanical work. He was a medical driver for 10 years. His favourite pastime included gambling, playing bingo and spending time with his grandchildren. He liked to travel to Maine, USA in August during blueberry harvest season. He was a member of Holy Family Parish.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Eliz (Young); sons, Adam, Leon (Cornelia); daughter, Veronica; foster, children, Victor, Philip, William, Cory, all of Eskasoni; brothers, George, Danny, Donald (Germaine); grandchildren, Leon Jr., Katie Ann, Emily, Allysen; godchildren, Madeline, Francine, Sylvester Jr; mother-in-law, Flo Young; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by sisters, Shirley and Margaret Rose in infancy.
Visitation will begin 7 p.m. Sept. 6, 2011, in the Gabriel Centre, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 in Holy Family Church, Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Burial in Parish Cemetery.
