ROBBIE CHARLES FRY, PhD
1961 - 2011
With profound sadness we announce the passing of our darling Robbie on August 31st in Kamloops, B.C. Canada.
Robbie was born January 29, 1961 to Bob and Pauline Fry in Oshawa, Ontario. He remained close to his big sister Kim (Ramsey) throughout his life. Robbie's inquisitive personality resulted in his pursuit of a career in mathematics. He excelled in his field, publishing numerous papers, and continued to work with colleagues in Canada and abroad until very shortly before his passing. In addition, Robb was a much loved teacher, who mentored many students into their mathematical careers. Robbie was unique in that he was not only a brilliant mathematician, but he was also a creative songwriter, and artist. Robbie's life was enriched by many treasured friendships.
Robb and Pamela (nÈe Genn) were married on June 19th, 2000 and in October of 2003 they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Georgia, into their family. From the moment she was placed in his arms, Georgia was the light of his life. Robbie will be deeply missed by his wife and daughter, as well as close family and friends.
For consistent caring, generosity of spirit, and the respect and dignity shown to Robbie, his family wishes to thank his physicians: Drs. Bruce Newmarch, Alexandra Gabriel, and Isabel Barnard, the Royal Inland Hospital Cancer Clinic, all the lovely folks on 6 South, and the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home. In addition, his colleagues at Thompson Rivers University are to be thanked for their love and support. Very special thanks to Laura Genn for too many things to name, and also to our dear neighbours: Martin, Jeannie, Josh and Jessica Brace.
In lieu of flowers, please give generously to the Canadian Cancer Society.
