Ella Matheson passed away peacefully at The Windsor Elms Village on Sept. 5, 2011.
Born in Glace Bay, Ella was the daughter of the late Norman D. and Margaret (MacDonald) Morrison.
For over 40 years Ella made her home in Marion Bridge, where she was devoted to her church and community. She was a founding member of Munroe House. At Bethel United Church, Ella served as an elder, and for 23 years, was central treasurer of the three churches in the Waterview pastoral charge. In 2003, with great help from her many friends, Ella moved to Williston House in Sydney, and three years later, she relocated to another happy place, “The Elms” in Windsor, N.S.
She is survived by her sister, Norena Davison, Bramber, Hants Co., and several nieces and nephews.
Ella was predeceased by her husband, Neil, and two brothers, Donald and Gus.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Sydney Memorial Chapel, where there will be a visitation on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Bethel United Church, with Nancy Whitney-Latham, DLM officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Respecting Ella's wishes, family flowers only. Remembrances may be directed to Bethel United, or to her last residence, now called The Windsor Elms Village.
