The death occurred suddenly at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, of Ernest Joseph Caissie of Miscouche, P.E.I., in his 84th year. Ernest was born on Feb. 5, 1926, in St. Gilbert, P.E.I., to his late parents Sylvere and Marguerite (nee Wedge) Caissie. Beloved husband of Ella (nee Cormier) Caissie and cherished father of Dianne (Bob Miner) of St. Hubert, P.E.I.; Kenneth (Deb Lafoy Caissie) of Slave Lake, Alta.; Joy “Paulette” (Ron Bulger) of North Bay, Ont.; Erma (Claude Richard) of Kanata, Ont.; and predeceased by his much loved daughter, Brenda. Loving grandfather to Adam (Giselle) Dalton, Allison (Cody) Arsenault, David (Renee) Dalton, Keegan (Kim Harrie) Bulger, Grace (Brad McCreight) Bulger, Anne Richard and Joe Richard; also proud great-grandfather to Jacob and Isaiah Dalton and Jaxon Arsenault. Also mourned by his step-granddaughters Tina, Dani, Bryanne and their families. Survived by his sisters Rosie Arsenault of Wellington, Melva (Fred Cormier) of South Rustico, Rita Arsenault of Summerside and Vina Arsenault of Lake Echo, N.S. and many brothers- and sisters-in-law as well as nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ernest was predeceased by brothers Francis and Alyre (Josie) his sister Therese, stepmother Liza, parents-in-law Benoit and Delina Cormier; brothers-in-law: Phil Arsenault, Amand Arsenault, Raymond Arsenault, Bryce MacGregor, Hubert Blanchard, Lawrence Arsenault, Edward Arsenault, Raymond Gallant, Albert Gallant, Antoine Cormier, Tilmon Cormier, Albenie Bernard; and by sisters-in-law: Lucy Blanchard Mugridge, Angeline Cormier and Alma Cormier. Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Wednesday, Oct. 14, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations in Ernest’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or St. John the Baptist Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated.
