It is with great sadness that the family of the much loved and treasured Helen Jackman (nee Murphy) (Feb 19, 1916- Sept 6, 2011) announce her passing at home on Bell Island, NL with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur (1968), son Douglas (2003) and his wife Aliena (Kent) (2004), son Cyril (2007), son-in -law Gordon Jewer (2008), daughter-in-law Madeline Pilgrim (2010), granddaughters Mylinda Gosse (1987), Alison Bennett (1974), Claire Pozniak (2005), granddaughter-in-law Karen Stone (Porter) (2006). Leaving to mourn children: Rose Marie Bennett (Ray), Mildred, Irene Rees, Peg Boland (Martin), Vivian Stone (Dan), Michael, Mary Jewer, Catherine Murray, Christine Everson (Ed), and special granddaughter Lori Hann (Colin) as well as daughter-in-law Linda Gosse. She also leaves 36 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as many friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to Dr. Alexa Laurie and her staff for the many years of care and to the ambulance attendants for their dedicated service. She will wake at Pendergast’s Funeral Home, Bell Island on Thursday, Sept 8 and Friday, Sept 9, from 2:00-4.00 and 7:00-9:00 pm. Funeral Mass will take place from St. Michael’s RC Church on Bell Island on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 11:00 am. Cremation to follow. Private Inurnment at a later date at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Bell Island, NL. No flowers by request. Donations in Helen’s memory may be made to St. Michael’s Parish.
