Gladys Evelyn Heighton, 71, of Cape John Rd., River John, passed away September 7, 2011 in the Palliative Care Unit of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late Roland and Alice (Gammon) Bain.
Gladys enjoyed bingo but most important was the time she spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Earl; son, Sterling (Christine), River John; grandchildren: Patrick, Kaitlyn and Elizabeth; one niece, one nephew.
She was predeceased by a brother, Sterling, and sister-in-law, Elaine.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Hamilton Cemetery, River John, with Rev. Bill Cook officiating.
Donations in her memory may be made to Juvenile Diabetes or the River John Fire Department.
Arrangements are under the direction of McLaren Funeral Service, Pictou.
