Sophia Coates passed away peacefully at Pioneer Village in Regina, on Monday September 5, 2011 at the age of 101. Sophia is predeceased by her husband Joe in 1981, five sisters, two brothers, and daughter-in-law Wilma in 2005. Sophia and Joe were married at the Lutheran Church in Flowing Well in 1937. She resided in Morse, Pense, and British Columbia, before returning to Morse, then to Regina. Sophia was a wonderful cook, a gifted crafter, and a good friend and listener. She enjoyed gardening and especially loved growing roses. May she rest in the Heavenly peace she so richly deserves. Sophia is survived by her son Charles (Irene) of Regina; daughter Diana (Ken) McTavish of Ladysmith, BC; grandchildren: William (Sandy) of Pense, SK, Daren (Rory) of Pense, SK, Sonya (Doug) Savage of Regina; six great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at the Morse United Church, Morse, SK, on Monday September 12, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Interment will follow at the Morse Cemetery. For those so wishing, memorials donations may be made to the Morse United Church, or the Lutheran Church at Flowing Well. In living memory of Sophia, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home, Chaplin, Saskatchewan.
