WESTVILE – Robert Joseph Jobe, of 1945 South Main St., Westville, passed away October 12, 2009, in the palliative care unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
He was born in Sugar Loaf, Cape Breton in 1921 and was the son of James and Maryann (nee MacIntire) Jobe.
Bobby was a heavy equipment operator in his working life. He was a veteran of the Second World War having served overseas from 1939 until 1945. He was also a former commissionaire at the Aberdeen Hospital. He was a very accomplished fiddler in the Cape Breton style of music and belonged to the Cape Breton Fiddlers Association for many years. He was well known in Westville especially at The White Tail, which was his favorite place to be.
He is survived by five sons: Robert (Joyce), New Glasgow; Glenn (Tish), MacLellans Mountain, Stewart (Geraldine), Thompson, Man.; Alvin (June), Westville; Cedric, London, Ont.; three daughters: Johnenna, Halifax; Muriel, Red Deer, AB; Sharmane (Tony), Red Deer, AB; one step-daughter, Ruby (David) Dingwall, Cape Breton; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four sisters.
He was predeceased by his wife, Annie (nee MacEvoy); his mother and father, four brothers and one sister.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be in Aspy Bay Cemetery on Saturday, October 17th at 2 p.m. No visitation at his request.
Donations in his honour may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
