NEW GLASGOW – Grace Henderson MacDonald, 95, of New Glasgow, passed away October 12, 2009 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born at Eden Lake, Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Lilly (Findlay) MacDonald.
She had been a resident of New Glasgow since 1977 prior to which she was a resident of Eden Lake. Grace was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, and a former member of Blair Presbyterian Church, Garden of Eden. She was also a member of the Golden Years Seniors Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (David) Johnstone, Greenwood; grandchildren: Shawn MacDonald, Kyle MacDonald, Heather (Peter) Douthwright, Shelley Johnstone and Vicki (Joe) Feeney; daughter-in-law, Maureen (Leo) Murray, Fredericton; great-grandchildren: Burke and Sean Feeney; Kelsey and Avery Douthwright, best friend, Brenda Wood
She was predeceased by her husband, J. Archie MacDonald; son, Athol MacDonald; two brothers and eight sisters.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Garden of Eden Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, Garden of Eden Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
