It is with great sorrow, that we the family, announce the peaceful passing of our mother Lydia Jane Hardy, 89, at Kimberly Hall, Irish Cove section, in Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Kenwood Drive, Sydney, on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born Nov. 1, 1921, in Harbour Breton, N.L., she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Elsie (Day) Tibbo.
Lydia’s faith was very important to her. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney. Over the years she served on many church organizations and was a lifetime member of the ACW.
Lydia is survived by her sons, John (Florence) Hardy, Little Bras d’Or, Keith (Barbra) Hardy, Westmount; five grandchildren, Julie, Darren, Laura Lee, Jennifer and Stephanie; also great-grandchildren, Clare, Ella, Kara, Dylan, Lily, Hali-Rose and Mallory; brothers, William (Juanita) Tibbo, Gander, N.L., Rev. Canon Wilson (Lillian) Tibbo, Conception Bay, N.L.; sister, Bernice (Robert) Hillard, Conception Bay, N.L.; also sisters-in-law, Margaret Tibbo, Harbour Breton, N.L.; and Shirley Tibbo, Quispamsis, N.B.
Lydia was predeceased by her husband, Jack Hardy and a daughter in infancy, also brothers, Thomas, Roy, Basil and Alexander Tibbo.
No visitation by request. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, with Rev. Gloria-McClure Fraser officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
