It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Margaret, on Sept. 10, 2011. She passed away peacefully at Ivany Place, Bedford.
Mom was born in North Sydney, N.S., on July 28, 1920, the daughter of the late Michael and Cecilia (Murphy), McInnis.
She was predeceased by husband, Duncan J., son, Franklyn, and infant daughter, Mary Agnes.
Mom was a wonderful cook and loved to bake and share what she had with family and friends. She looked forward to her grandchildren’s visits and always had extra treats in the pantry for them to enjoy. Mom was an avid card player and loved the games of Bridge and Forty Five.
She is survived by sons, Alex, Bedford, Blair (Shannon), Fall River, Michael (Laurie) MacAulay, New Waterford; daughters, Louise MacDonald, Bedford, Anne Marie (Frank) Robinson, Brampton Ont., Dianne Melendy, Smith Falls, Ont. Mom had 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Evelyn Poulain, Ann MacGibbon, Helen McInnis, Isabel St. Pierre; brother, Jackie.
She was predeceased by a sister, Eileen McPherson, brothers, Joseph and Jerry.
We want to give special thanks to the staff at Sandpiper Hills, Ivany Place, for the care and compassion they gave our mother.
Visitation Wednesday, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in McLellan Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford. Funeral service Thursday, 10 a.m., Parish of Saint Leonard. Following the funeral a luncheon will be held at the parish hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Northwood Foundation, Ivany Place, 2615 Northwood Terrace, Halifax N.S., B3K 3S5 or a charity of choice.
