Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family at the Health Sciences Center on Thursday, September 8, 2011. Fred was 74 years old. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Florence Rickert, sister Loretta Linthorne, his father and mother-in-law William and Minnie Garland. Leaving to mourn his wife of 53 years Hazel (nee Garland); son Craig and daughters Janice (Brian St. George), Nancy (Dave Byrne) and Norma (Craig Burke); grandchildren Craig Jr. (Holly), Kaylee, Jared, Erin and Noah; great-grandson Trent; daughter-in-law Beve. Also leaving to mourn his brothers Doug, Angus (Helen), David (Diane); sisters Joan Penney, Geraldine Bedel, Irene Murphy (George); brother-in-law Don Garland; sisters-in-law Elsie Bauld (Bruce), Ruth Cook (Jack), Violet McConnell and Norma Garland; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place from Corpus Christi Church, Waterford Bridge Road on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. Cremation will follow, with a private burial at a later date.
