Kenneth Crowley
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Kenneth Andrew Crowley age 58, of Amherst announce his passing at home.
Born in Amherst, Ken was the son of the late Maurice and Bertha (Seaman) Crowley.
After high school, he enrolled in the Air Force in Ontario for a few years. He returned to Amherst and worked for Hurst Equipment before starting his lifelong career in the life Insurance business following his father’s footsteps with Mutual Life of Canada.
In his retirement years Ken was an aspiring stand up comic and always had a joke for everyone he met.
Ken had an uncanny ear for music and had a great passion for dancing, he also loved singing and playing his guitar and piano for others.
He was a very caring person and was always looking out for his family, friends and neighbours.
Ken had a great love for animals, volunteering time at the L.A. Animal Shelter and developed a special bond with his dog Spirit that he adopted from the shelter who became his greatest companion.
Over the past seven years, Ken acquired a great love for motorcycling and could be seen touring around town and the back roads of Cumberland County.
He will be sadly missed by his two sons Brad of Amherst and Matt (Nicole) of Halifax, one sister Eleanor (Dan) Jolly of Amherst, niece Erin (Ray) Perry of Amherst and nephew Nick of Amherst.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906).
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst.
Memorial donations in Ken’s memory may be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter or the charity of your choice.
