Frances Ethel Wilce of Fredericton, NB died peacefully at the Dr. Everett Hospital on October 12, 2009. Born in Mortlach, SK on August 23,1916. She was the youngest daughter of the late James and Mary-Jane (Telford) Greggain. Frances was educated in Mortlach schools, Montreal Business School, NB Teachers College, University of New Brunswick and Saint Francis Xavier University where she completed a BSc Home Economics. Her career in teaching included positions at Hampton, NB, Kingston NB, Oromocto NB, NB Teachers College and UNB’s Faculty of Education until her retirement in 1977. Frances continued active participation in many professional organizations. Frances was predeceased by her first husband, Jack Cochrane, and her husband of 54 years Bill Wilce, her parents, her four brothers Tom, Dan, Jim and Gilf Greggain; her two sisters Betty Osborne and Esther Riche; and her dear cousins Jack and Dolly Bidlake. She leaves to mourn many special nieces and nephews and their families; her precious Fredericton families George and Colleen Bidlake and their children Patrick, Erin and Andrew; and Walter and Alma Bidlake. Frances was a member and elder of St. Paul’s United Church, Fredericton, NB and was also active in UCW. She was a charter and life member of the Lord Beaverbrook Chapter No 33 Order of the Eastern Star Hampton, NB, and a member of Celestial Chapter No 3 Order of the Eastern Star, Fredericton, NB. Frances will be fondly remembered by family, friends and colleagues as one who sincerely enjoyed people and lived life to the fullest. Her hobbies included sewing, weaving and painting and she loved dancing, especially with Bill. Cremation will take place under the direction of McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service conducted by Rev. Paul Ross will be held at the J.A. Memorial Chapel on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 2:00 pm with burial at the Forest Hill Cemetery. A reception will be held at the funeral home following the service.
