WESTVILLE – Jean F. (Kerr) Braine, 87, of Glen Haven Manor, formerly of Westville, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Pictou, she was a daughter of Charles “Henry” and Frances Eleanor (MacMillan) Thompson.
Jean had worked at Clairtone and later at Valley View Villa and the Aberdeen Hospital. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Westville Chapter, and enjoyed music and dancing. She and her first husband resided in Burnside, Middle River for several years. After his death, she remarried and moved to Westville where she lived until her stay at Glen Haven Manor.
She is survived by daughters, Eleanor McKean (Billy), Waterville; Kathryn Weatherbie (Doug), Trenton; sons: Francis Kerr (Carleen), Mill Brook; John Kerr (Brenda), Westville; Charles Braine (Michelle), Winter Port, Maine; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and sister Wilma Campagnaro, Guelph, Ont.
She was predeceased by her first husband, James F. Kerr; her second husband Joseph M. Braine; grandchild Angela; sister Anne Higgins; and brothers: Minton, Henry, George and William Thompson.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitations. Her memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with the Rev. Gary Tonks officiating.
