BROOKS, EVELYN L. - Evelyn L. Brooks, 85, of Canterbury Hall, Riverview and formerly of People’s Park Tower and Century Drive, Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday September 12, 2011. Born in Chipman, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Freda (Smith) Ritchie. Evelyn was a retired hairdresser, a member of Mount Royal United Church and Past President and Co-President of The Afternoon Unit of the U.C.W. She was a Veteran of WWII, having served with the CWAC and was Past President of the Beaver Curling Club, member of Frank H. Tingley #5 O.E.S. Daughters of the Nile (Moncton Club) and the Pearl Rebekah Lodge #9. She also loved children, flowers, cooking, crafts, painting and time spent with her friends. Evelyn will be sadly missed by her sister, Leola Sealy (Keith) of London, ON, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Grant Brooks (June 2006), niece Bonnie.
In keeping with Evelyn’s wishes, there will be no visitation hours. Memorial Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Friday September 16, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service.
