Stephenville. Passed away suddenly on Friday, October 9, 2009, while vacationing in Ontario with his beloved wife Maxine, aged 69 years. Predeceased by his parents Victor and Gladys and his sister Mabel Noftall. Left to mourn his wife and best friend Maxine; daughter Kim (Greg Burton); sons: Brent (Gerrie Smith) and Kenneth (Vivienne White); and grandchildren: Liam, Faye, Joshua, Lucan and Ryan. Also left to mourn brothers: Harold (Scottie), Reg (Eva); sisters: Muriel Zisk (Ed deceased) and Melvina Purdy (Ron deceased); brother-in-law Clar Noftall; also mourning is the Morris family: brothers-in-law: Sidney (Albertha), Joe (Sylvia), Milton (Katie), William (Madonna), Kevin (Janet); sister-in-law Joan (Lowell) Miller. Also predeceased by sisters-in-law: Beulah Chaffey and Phyllis Lush. Lloyd was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family, entertaining at the cabin and enjoying life to the fullest. Lloyd’s kind and gentle spirit touched many people through his business and volunteer work. Lloyd and Maxine came to Stephenville in 1970 and successfully built and operated H and L Stores, Maxine’s, and eventually succeeded his brother Harold in operating Meade’s Home Hardware. His giving ways led him to becoming a dedicated Mason and Shriner. Visiting hours at Russell’s Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive, Stephenville, on Wednesday, October 14th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service on Thursday, October 15th at 10:30 a.m., St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Hillview Avenue, Stephenville with Rev. Canon Dawn Barrett officiating. Interment to follow at St. George’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Robinsons. Donations may be made in Lloyd’s memory to the Shriners for burned children and those with orthopedic problems or St. George’s Anglican Church, Robinsons, A1M 1V0.
