McNEIL, Barry David (CPO2 Ret’d), CD – 60, Bible Hill. Barry passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and the comforts of home, on Monday, October 12, 2009. He had a lengthy and courageous battle with illness and he will always be admired for his patience and his unwavering ability to accept that “It is what it is”. Born April 18, 1949, in Spryfield, he was a son of the late Ginger and Agnes (McGrath) McNeil. Barry joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a young man and he and his family enjoyed many postings across Canada and overseas. After his retirement in 1995, Barry kept himself busy flea-marketing, gardening, woodworking and embarking upon many do-it-yourself projects. He will forever be cherished and remembered by his grandchildren as a devoted Grampy who had an endless supply of ice cream and treats, and always made the time to play and create new adventures and projects. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Danny; parents-in-law, Francis and Catherine Mombourquette. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Diane (Mombourquette); daughters, Traci (Gilles) Boudreau, Truro; Tina (Wayne) Yeomans, Ottawa; grandchildren, Addison and Brayden Yeomans and Noah and Ella Boudreau; brother, Jerry (Emma) McNeil, Lower L’Ardoise; sister-in-law, Rose McNeil, Hubbards; cousin and partner in crime, Peter (Shirley) MacNeil, Truro; his Mombourquette family, Frank (Georgina), Kevin (Wanda), Blair (Judy), Earl (Jeanette), Floyd (Mandy), Monica (Brian) and Michelle (Claude) Cotie, all of Lower L’Ardoise; many nieces and nephews. All are invited to attend a celebration of Barry’s life that will be held 2-4 pm Thursday, October 15, 2009, in the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, (lower lounge), 42 Brunswick Street, Truro. A private family graveside service has already taken place in Bible Hill Cemetery, Reverend Brian DeLong officiated.
