Gloria Faye Gorgichuk

Passed at the age of 71 years. Gloria was born in Ft. Vermilion, Alberta, into the life of a Hudson’s Bay Co. “brat.” She lived in the North at various locations, with her parents and siblings for 17 years before heading south to find work, and adventure. Her admiration of bush pilots spurred her to obtain her pilot’s license and then ventured on to sky-diving.

But her greatest joy in life was being at the wheel of her Mack Truck,or any truck.
She became a truck driver in 1963, and was one of the first female drivers in North America and the first female driver of aboriginal decent.

Gloria lived in the Yukon for 45 years or so, and raised her family in Whitehorse. She and her husband Bill retired to Tagish and loved it so much that they named their home Nirvana.

Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Eddy and Dolly Gray, her oldest brother, Gary Gray, her husband Bill Gorgichuk and her grand-daughter Leila Gray.
Gloria is survived by her children; daughter Marie Gray, son Danny Campbell and son Merle Gorgichuk, grandchildren; Trista, Kristopher, Demura and Marcus, great-granddaughter Peregrine.
Also survived by her brother Gordy Gray, her sister Gladys, and six nephews and nieces. She will be missed by family and friends.

Funeral arrangements by Heritage North, Whitehorse, Yukon. Interment of ashes, at a later date, in Dawson Creek, BC., arranged by Reynars Funeral Home.
