It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Bennett of Glace Bay. Sharon passed away at the Glace Bay Hospital on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, with her family at her side.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late William ‘Bill’ and Mary (Larade) Morris, and was a former member of Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay.
Sharon enjoyed listening to music, playing darts, spending time on her computer and her outings to the casino. Sharon will be remembered for her quick wit, her great sense of humor and for her time spent with her grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Sandra (John) Neil, Glace Bay; sons, Joey (Giselle), Red Deer, and Robert, Glace Bay; sisters, Bev (Tom) Wadden, Glace Bay, Polly Muirhead, Windsor, Ont. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Ashly, Brianna and Dylan.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Bennie Bennett in 2009.
Visitation for Sharon will be held Saturday, Sept. 17 from noon to 2 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, with a funeral service following at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Cremation will follow with interment at a later date.
At this time, we, Sharon’s family, wish to express our sincere thanks to Alice and Jerry, Billy and Margie Kapsua, Eileen Sheppard and numerous family and friends for staying by mom’s side through thick and thin.
We would also like to thank the doctors and the nursing staff who cared for mom while a patient on 3rd floor.
