Peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, with his family by his side of Gerard James Gaudet of Anglo Tignish, age 83 years. Beloved husband of the late Stella Mary (nee Richard) Gaudet. Born on March 26,1926, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (nee Pitre) Gaudet. Lovingly remembered by his four sons and three daughters, David (Vickie) of Northport, Lorraine (Peter) Hustler of Miminegash, Ronnie of Tignish, Wayne (Rose Marie) of Tignish, Larry (Sally) of Tignish, Barb (Ivan) Gaudet of Anglo-Tignish and Cheryl (Dwayne) Dorion of Duvar. Cherished grandfather to Katyryna, Jacqueline, Nicole, Shane, Jeff, Corey, Marissa, Lucas, Morgan, Fallon, Dexter, Nadia, Ethan, Brandon, Colby, Chastity and Craig. Great-grandfather to Chelsey, Makya and Brady. Dear brother to Edward (Rose Marie) Gaudet and brother-in-law to Ida (late James) Handrahan, Louise (Alyre) LeClair of Tignish and Doris (Edward) Cuffy of Montreal. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Allan, in 1960, and by daughters, Joyce (John) Kenny in 1970 and Michelle (Wade) Thibodeau in 2006. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Delima and Rita (Alton) Aylward and by a son-in-law, Maurice Shea, in 1990. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Funeral on Friday afternoon from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 4 p.m. Interment in the church cemetery. As an expression of sympathy memorials to St. Simon and St. Jude Cemetery fund or to St. Simon and St. Jude Organ restoration fund would be gratefully appreciated. Visiting hours Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and on Friday from 1 p.m. until time of departure.
