Sadie Katherine MacLeod, 89, of Port Morien, formerly of Glace Bay, died on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in St. Esprit, Richmond County, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Dolena (MacKinnon) Ferguson.
Sadie was an elder of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Rebekah Lodge, Cape Breton Gaelic Society and the Mission Society.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Sadie is survived by her daughter, Marlena Nicholson, Port Morien; son, Alexander (Mary) MacLeod, Iona; sisters, Patricia Wilmot, Sydney, Mae Mombourquette, L’Ardoise; grandchildren, Katherine MacLeod, Angaela MacLeod and Sarah Nicholson as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, William, her sister, Wilma Kosty, brother, Allisdair ‘Sonny’ Ferguson and son-in-law, Stuart Nicholson.
Visitation for Sadie MacLeod will take place in Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Brookside Street, Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
