ERIKSEN, Clamer Bernard
1925 – 2009
Clamer was born on the family farm at Aneroid, SK. He passed away July 20, 2009, at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. He was predeceased by his father Mikael; mother Fannie; brothers: Mikael, Sven and Arnold; sister, Margit; and his wife, Grace, on January 14, 2009. Leaving to cherish his memory is his sister, Sonja Evans of Ponteix, SK; many nieces and nephews; as well as special friends Allen and Martha Hegg. Clamer attended South Pinto School, riding horseback three and one half miles each way. In 1941, after completing grade eight he joined the army at the age of sixteen. He served overseas in many European countries as a ground gunner until the end of WWII. Many times he was on the front lines. After returning home he lived in Calgary where he took a bricklaying course. He moved to Drumheller and taught bricklaying in the Drumheller Correctional Service Institution from August 1967 to August 1987. In 1995, they retired to Medicine Hat, and purchased a condo in Park Meadows. Clamer served on the Board of Directors for 10 years. Arrangements were entrusted to Cooks Funeral Home in Medicine Hat. At the request of Clamer, there was no formal funeral. Sonja would like tot hank her family for the many trips they made on her behalf, before and after the funeral. The entire Evans family would like to thank everyone for the cards, visits, and phone calls during this time.
