Mayvard McCarthy
McCARTHY, MAYVARD - At Hotel-Dieu of Saint Joseph Hospital, Perth-Andover, September 16, 2011, Mr. Mayvard McCarthy of California Settlement passed away at the age of 70 years. He was married to the former Ginette Pelletier. Born at Grand Falls in 1941, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Cecilia Elizabeth (Downing) McCarthy. Prior to his retirement, Mr. McCarthy was a farmer for several years before a career with the provincial Department of Transportation. He was a 4th-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6414. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Laurianne Everett (Christopher) of Fredericton, Tina Rattray (William) of Aroostook and Paula Brayall (Joey) of California Settlement, nine grandchildren, Tonya, Tammy, Travis, Tasha, Samantha, Zachary, Aaron, Colby and Kayden, sisters and brothers, Keith (Mary) of Butler, Pennsylvania, Bernard (Joyce) of Tobique First Nation, Emily Quinn of Kingston, Ontario, Patricia Paul (Wayne) of Woodstock, Judy Pierce (Charles) of Piercemont, Jimmy (Patricia) of Quispamsis, Calvin (Barbara) of St. Paul, Alberta and Christopher (Terry) of Kingston, Ontario, sisters-in-law, Helena (late Joyner) and Joan (late Archie) and brother-in-law, Jim Bear (late Pauline), as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, Dwayne Allen, sister Pauline Bear, brothers, Joyner, Archie and Larry.
Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from noon until 1:30 p.m. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 20th at 2 p.m. from St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls (Portage) with Father Gilbert Doddatto officiating.
