It is with deep sadness that the family of Rita Routledge announce her peaceful passing on Friday, Sept.16, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born Sept. 14, 1930, in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Roderick and Veronica (MacNeil) MacLeod.
Rita was a quiet, unassuming lady, very kind in nature and always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. At one time, Rita was employed by F.W.Woolworth Co. in Glace Bay.
She is survived by sons, Todd and Clarence (Donna), both of Glace Bay; grandchildren, Tanya, Christopher, Scott, Holly, Steven, April and Darryl; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Della) of Reserve and Roderick (Tena) of Antigonish.
Besides her parents, Rita was predeceased by her husband, Clarence, daughter, Linda, granddaughter, Lindsay, sisters, Veronica, Lillian and Margaret as well as brothers, John, Aloysius, Alex and Adrian.
In honouring Rita’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at Curry’s Funeral Home Chapel, 775 Main St., Glace Bay, on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. Rev. Daniel Boudreau will officiate. The interment will follow the service at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
