At Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 of William “Bill” Donald Buchanan of Summerside aged 89, veteran of the Second World War, husband of the late Gladys (nee MacMillan). Born in Mount Royal on June 14, 1920, son of the late Martin and Nellie (Silliker) Buchanan. Cherished father of Elizabeth DesRoches (John Mugridge), Phyllis (Brian) DesRoches, all of Summerside; Ronald, Charlottetown. Loving grandfather of Roberta O’Brien (Terry), Dale (Belinda) O’Brien, Jeff (Shelley) DesRoches, Jeremy (Kathy) DesRoches, Natalie DesRoches, Draper (Carolyn) Buchanan, Tiffany Buchanan, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Predeceased by a grandson, Stephen O’Brien, brothers Urban, Robert and sister Elga Harris. Forwarded from the Ferguson Funeral Home, O’Leary, to the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, for visiting hours Saturday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral on Sunday at the Summerside Church of the Nazarene at 1:30 p.m. Interment in the Mount Royal People’s Cemetery. Members of the Summerside Royal Canadian Legion will hold a service of remembrance for their late comrade at the funeral home on Saturday evening at 6:45 p.m. Memorials to the War Amps of Canada (P.E.I. division) or Mount Royal Peoples Cemetery would be appreciated.
