DOUVILLE: Rita Marie Douville, age 89 years, of Ponteix, SK passed away September 9, 2011 at the Prairie View Health Centre, Mankota, SK. The funeral mass was held at 11:00 A.M., September 14, 2011 from Notre Dame d'Auvergne Catholic Church, Ponteix, SK with Father Raymond Carignan as Celebrant. The organist was Curtis Korchinski and music for the Mass was provided by Anne Cooke, Diane O'Krainetz and Lynda Browning. The eulogist was Norm Douville and the ushers were Randy Schlageter and Raymond St.Cyr. The pallbearers were: Bill Trevors, Kevin Suppes, Darren Brand, Shawn Creighton, Ron St. Cyr and Laurent St. Cyr. The interment service followed at the Notre Dame Parish Cemetery, Ponteix, SK. Rita is survived by her children: Louise Douville (Joel Davidson), Winnipeg, MB, Diane Gervais (Gerard Fournier), Kincaid, SK, Jeanne Petterson (Mel), Shaunovan, SK., Julien Douville (Helen), Ponteix, SK, Margo Durling (Harry) Regina, SK and Norman Douville, Saskatoon, SK; ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; brothers: Robert St. Cyr (Annie), Ponteix, SK, Gerry St.Cyr, Lake Cowichan, BC and Laurent St. Cyr, Ponteix, SK. Sisters: Lena Liboiron, Abbotsford, BC and SR. Alma St. Cyr, Montreal, QC. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Lucien and Bertha St. Cyr; her spouse Philippe Douville (July 7, 1998), a son-in-law Terry Trevors; brothers: Emile, Ovila, Edgar, Art and Norman St. Cyr; sisters Alice Ridgeway, Jeanne Anderson and Eva Yaehne. Rita was born on the family farm north of Ponteix on March 9, 1922. She attended school at Gouverneur, SK. She was united in marriage to Philippe Douville on January 26, 1944 in Dauphin, MB. Rita was employed at the Ponteix Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of the Glenvern Square Dancing Club and was involved for years with the Ponteix Legion Auxiliary. Her special interests included: cooking, entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards, especially "Wizard". In her earlier years she played baseball, enjoyed curling and horse back riding. She was an avid sports fan, watched hockey, curling and baseball and was a competitive pool player. At the age of 87 she enrolled in an art class, while living in Shaunavon, SK. In her memory, donations to the Alzheimers Association of Saskatchewan, 301-2550-12th Ave., Regina, SK S4P 3X1, would be appreciated by the family.
