Weldon Hunsley
It is with sadness that the family of the late Weldon F. Hunsley age 95, of Amherst announce his passing on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS.
Born in East Leicester, Cumberland County, Weldon was a son of the late Earl and Ethel (Estabrooks) Hunsley.
Weldon enjoyed sports, he played baseball in the Old Church League as well as the junior and senior teams.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the RCAF both in Canada and overseas.
Weldon worked for Irving Oil in Amherst for 36 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a Past Chancellor and Life Member of Chignecto Lodge #11, Knights of Pythias, Amherst.
Weldon will be sadly missed by his wife the former Julia Patterson , two daughters Barbara (Arthur) Chapman of Dartmouth and Kathryn (David) Smith of Amherst, four grandchildren Stacey and Scott Chapman and Shawn and Kelsey Smith, one great grandson Kyle Chapman and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a son Michael Weldon, two brothers Garnet and Ernest and one sister Hazel Myatt.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the Amherst Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Weldon’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or the charity of your choice.
