COSTLEY, Alice Irene - 80, of Blue Mountain, Kings County, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Blue Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Bertha (Jodrey) Sweet. In her earlier years, she had been employed with E. M. Russell, New Ross, where she cooked in the lumber camp. She had also been employed with Canada Foods and Central Inn, Kentville and for a number of years had been employed with A.C.A. Co-op. She enjoyed being a homemaker and working on the family farm. She is survived by a daughter, Bertha Hatchard (companion, Fred Sweet), New Ross; a son, Larry, Blue Mountain; three sisters, Lois Schofield (companion, Donald Spencer), South Alton; Janet (Robert) White, Sackville; Gayle Mueller, Prince Edward Island; two brothers, Lawrence (Mary), South Alton; Albert (Rona), South Alton; three grandchildren, David, Roger and Savanna; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, E. Douglas Costley; a son-in-law, Barry Hatchard. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Valerie Rhymes officiating. Burial took place in the Aaldersville Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Lung Association, the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
