JEANSON - Florilda Marie (Nee: Croteau) of Ponteix, SK and formerly of Val Marie, SK passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home in Ponteix, SK at the age of 90 years. Florilda was born in Ponteix on December 27, 1920 to Amanda and Gedeon Croteau. She attended school at Masefield, SK. On January 4, 1944 she married Lionel Jeanson at Masefield. Florilda was an industrious homemaker and an active farm wife. One could say that her favorite hobby was her love of gardening as she had a very green thumb when it came to growing vegetables. Also, a variety of beautiful and colorful flowers such as geraniums, lilies, peonies, pansies, petunias, sweet peas, gladiolas and her favorite rose bush were admired by people passing by. When fall arrived, many geranium plants were transplanted into pots and displayed in the windows for all to see. During the winter months sewing and a lot of mending were done on her antique treadle sewing machine. In the evenings Florilda enjoyed reading the newspaper and watching figure skating on television. Over the years many a family gathering was held in their home in Val Marie, which will always be fondly remembered. Florilda leaves to mourn her memory: her children Roger (Sharon), Paul (Carrie), Lucien (Darlene), Gisele (Dennis Dufault), Therese (Casper) Laturnus, Dennis (April) Jeanson and Claude (Jacqueline) Jeanson; grandchildren and great grandchildren David (Elizabeth), Jessica, Jordon, Landon, Neil, Jodi, Jeremy (Laura), Alyssa, Brody, Kaitlyn, Jonathan (Caitlin), Myles (Yvette) Laturnus, Taylor, Nicole, Melody Laturnus, Lenita Barrett (Dominick), Zachary and Isabelle, Natashia Jeanson, Andrea (Andrew) Luchia, Zayden, Jennifer and Kristine Jeanson, Russell and Mitchell; sisters RoseAlma Dudragne of Swft Current, SK and Roseanna Gullacher of Prince George, BC. Florilda was predeceased by her parents Amanda and Gedeon Croteau; her loving husband Lionel Jeanson; brothers Gerard, Louis, Hormidas and Leon; and sisters Leontine, Mathilda, Anna, Marguerite, Ernestine and Rosilda. Her funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the Church Of The Nativity Roman Catholic Church, Val Marie, SK with Father Juanito Vargas and Father Raymond Carignan officiating. The organist was Joanne Monette, with special music provided by Kathy Grant and Jim Harbor. The Cross Bearer was Claude Jeanson, readers were Dennis Jeanson and Therese Laturnus, Jodi Jeanson and Melody Laturnus presented the offerings. Pallbearers included David Jeanson, Neil Jeanson, Jonathan Jeanson, Jeremy Jeanson, Myles Laturnus and Taylor Laturnus. The Interment service was held at Val Marie Cemetery following the funeral service.
