NEARING, MICHAEL M. - July 2, 1948 - September 25, 2011 - It is with sadness we announce the passing of Mike Nearing beloved husband of Diane (Hickman) Nearing at the Saint John Residential Hospice “Bobby’s Hope House” on Sunday September 25, 2011, after a battle with cancer. Mike is survived by his parents Merrill and Agnes (Boyle) Nearing, his loving wife Diane of 43 years, cherished sons Chuck (Becky), Jeff, and Chris (Colleen); his beautiful and much loved grandchildren Justin, Jessica, Joshua, Isabelle and Cooper. He is also survived by his sisters Marilyn (Dave) and Carolin; brothers Pat, Keith (Linda) and Mark (Sana); several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike is also survived by brothers-in-law Dave Hickman (Cheryl) and Gary Nilsson (the late Judy Hickman). Mike was a pipefitter and member of UA Local 213 Plumbers and Pipefitter. He greatly enjoyed camping, fishing and his wood working projects.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Tuesday, September 27 from 2 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery.
