COTTREAU, (BOWEN), Gladys Bridget - 86, Sunday Point, Yarmouth Co. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, after a brief illness, at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Born in Aldershot, England, on April 9, 1925, she was the daughter of John and Margaret (Hurley) Bowen. Mom was a war bride immigrating to Canada in 1947 after surviving a bomb landing in her backyard during WWII. Mom returned to her hometown in England only once since she left, accompanied by some of her children. Mom devoted a good part of her life to caring for her family – thanks, mom, for tucking us in. She enjoyed preparing family meals and baked the best pies in town! She enjoyed gardening and tending to her lovely roses. She enjoyed travelling to Ottawa to visit her daughter, Patricia and family, and to Saint John, to visit her son Paul. Mom loved cats and will be greatly missed by Puff and Sandy. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by sons Paul, Saint John, New Brunswick; Terence (Karen), Tusket; Philip, Sunday Point; daughter Patricia (Miles) Leznoff, Ottawa, Ontario; loving grandchildren, Thomas, Danielle, Andrew (Cottreau) and Sarah (Leznoff). Mom was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband George, and brother Jack Bowen, Ireland. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, September 23, at Huskilson's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 at Saint Ambrose Cathedral with Father John MacPherson officiated. Internment followed at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetary. Reception followed at Jubilee Room, basement of Saint Ambrose Cathedral. Donations in mom's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. You may leave messages of condolence or sign the on-line guestbook by visiting www.huskilson.net
