Archie Shore, 89, of Mira, formerly of Glace Bay, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at home.
Born at Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Max and Sable Shore.
He was an active member in the Son’s of Israel Synagogue, Glace Bay, and Sydney River Royal Canadian Legion Branch 151. Archie was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas in Italy. He was also a well-respected business family in Glace Bay and surrounding areas including Sydney and Sydney River. He was well known for his courtesy and kindness, he loved his work, boating, golfing and his love of the Mira.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Bella; four daughters, Marni (Sol) Mednick, Toronto, Lani (Lorne) Cohen, New Jersey, Sybil (Victor) Fineberg, Halifax, Susan (Sheldon) Abramovitch, Toronto.
Predeceased by sister, Gertie Schear, brothers, Sol, Morris and Issie.
The family will be sitting Shiva at the family home, 68 Shore Lane, Mira, until Friday, Oct. 23, 2009. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. in Patten funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, with Rabbi David Ellis officiating. Burial will take place in the Hebrew Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cape Breton Palliative Care, the Renal Dialysis Unit at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, the VON or charity of your choice.
