R. Wendell Harrington
At the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Saturday, September 24, 2011, of R. Wendell Harrington, veteran of the Second World War, of Summerset Manor, Summerside, and formerly of Etobicoke, Ontario, and Sunset Drive, Kensington, aged 86 years.
Born in Spring Valley on August 3, 1925, the last surviving member of the late James and Annie (Thompson) Harrington family. Husband of Jennie (Lewis) Harrington, Kensington. Father of the Rev. William Harrington, Kensington; Susan (Colin) Harrington Eddie, Summerside; and Saundra (Rob) Kinnear, Ontario. Grandfather of James, Jonathan, Sarah and Emily Eddie; Kimberley and Benjamin Kinnear. Brother-in-law of Harry (Ella) Lewis, Alma (Jack) Westall, Leigh (Phyllis), Lewis, Rev. Lawrence (Iris) Lewis, Hazel Black, Keith (Iris) Lewis, Verna Boss and Norma Lewis Coulter. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by brother and sister-in-law Ivan and Margaret Harrington. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law George Lewis, Marne and Gertrude Lewis, Grace and Wallace Moase, Gladys Lewis, Florence Lewis, John and Elsie Mae Lewis, Donald Black, Oral Boss and Lloyd and Ralph Lewis both in infancy.
Resting at the Davison Funeral Home, Kensington, for visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Wednesday in the Davison Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m.
Comrades of the Lt. Col. E.W. Johnstone, Br. # 9 Royal Canadian Legion, Kensington, will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.
