Constance Currie

CURRIE, CONSTANCE - The family of Constance Eunice (Gates) Currie sadly announce her unexpected passing at home on September 22, 2011. Connie was born on December 22, 1923. The daughter of Lucinda (Ewing) and Charles Gates and after her mothers passing, was raised on Guilford St. by her Aunt and Uncle Annie and Ross Melvin (all pre deceased). April 6, 1942, she married Richard Currie, a soldier from Fort William, Ontario. After her husband went overseas in September of 1942, Connie decided to move to Thunder Bay area, leaving in January of 1944, with her infant daughter. Upon Richards discharge in 1945, the family settled in Westfort (Thunder Bay) where she resided until her passing. Connie was predeceased by her husband Richard in 2010 and brothers Lincoln, Leonard (Lucille), Tave (Audrey), Ralph and granddaughter Natalie. She is survived by six children, Judy, Gus, Cholin, Glen (Monika), Robert (Ruth) and Ellen (David) Mackenzie of Thunder Bay, Brian (Martha) Watson Lake, YK. and Nancy (Bruce) Allison of Orangeville, ON, 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, brother in law Bill Currie, (NV), sister in law Ethel Stieh (OR), Jeanette Iiyn (BC) and Irene Gates, Joyce Gates, Saint John, and numerous neices and nephews. Mom may have moved to Ontario, but always refered to Saint John as home and look forward to her many trips home to visit with family and friends.
