HEMMINGS, Carl Joseph "Soupy" -72, of Chestnut St., Pictou, died September 26, 2011 in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Pictou, he was the son of the late Charles & Evangeline (Fougere) Hemmings. Carl worked at the shipyard as a plater for 28 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 16, Pictou, and enjoyed helping out there. He also liked to play the mouth organ and dance, and loved time spent with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Florence (Cameron); son, Carl (Stephanie), Merigomish; daughter, Cathy, Pictou; grandchildren, Brandon & Kasey DeVries, Jesse Hemmings; sisters, Darleen (Steven), New Glasgow; Sharon (Ronnie), Lower Sackville; nephews, Chris, Shaun, Darren, Danny. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 PM Wednesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM Thursday from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Rev. Gerald Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
