Marjorie Douglas
The death of Marjorie Elma (Tutty) Douglas, 89, Amherst and formerly of Peterborough, Ontario occurred on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Gables Lodge in Amherst.
Born in Peterborough, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy (Mather) Boyle.
On August 14, 1943 Marjorie married her high school sweetheart, Donald and they spent a wonderful 68 years together. In her younger years, Marjorie was a member of the Women Bridge Club, Liftlock Golf Club and the YWCA, where she enjoyed swimming and diving. In 2005 Marjorie and her husband moved to Amherst to be closer to their son the late Rick and his wife Carolyn.
Marjorie was a member of the Northminister United Church in Peterborough, Ontario.
Tutty’s gentle demeanor and pleasant manner will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
She leaves behind to mourn her beloved husband of 68 years, Donald, Amherst; loving son, Stephen (Mi-Sook), Toronto; dear sisters, Dorothy Hubbs, Aurora, ON, Bette Cyr, Montreal PQ, and Anne (Harold) Taylor, Burlington, ON; grandsons, Kyle Troy and Quin Rhys; daughter in law, Carolyn Douglas; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Marjorie was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Diane in 1948; as well as her son, David (Rick) in 2011.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst, NS (667-9906). A private family gathering will be held.
Her cremated remains will be laid to rest beside her daughter in the Little Lake Cemetery in Peterborough at a later date.
Donations in Marjorie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
