Lauris Florence Lewis age 88, of Amherst passed away Friday, October 16, 2009 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, N.S.
Born in Fenwick, she was a daughter of the late William and Katherine (Smith) Reid.
Lauris worked for the School For The Deaf in Amherst for many years, retiring in 1979.
She is survived by three daughters Edith (John) MacMillan of Truro, Janet (Jim) Millard of Prince George, BC and Elizabeth Regan of Hamilton, ON, two sons Albert and Neil (Linda) both of Fenwick, two brothers Clarence (Eva) Reid of Truemanville and Edmond (Christine) Reid of Dartmouth and one half brother Maynard (Joan) Carter of Amherst, one sister Josephine Trebbne of Hamilton, ON and one half sister Barbara Jane (Robert) Stevens of Mahone Bay, NS, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Lauris was predeceased by her first husband Elmer Ripley, one son Stephen, one grandson Paul Ripley, a half sister Margaret Grant and her second husband Russell Lewis.
Her family received visitors at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst on Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m.
Rev. Pam Bowman officiated.
Interment followed in the Fenwick Cemetery.
