Marion Adeline Prest
UPPER STEWIACKE - Prest, Marion Adeline, 86, Upper Stewiacke, Colchester Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, in Cedarstone Enhanced Care Facility, Truro.
Born in Summerside, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Andrew and Theresa (Brown) Arsenault.
She was a former member/treasurer of the Pine Grove Women's Institute in Upper Stewiacke, a member of the Springside United Church and UCW.
Aside from being a devoted wife and mother, she was a housekeeper in P.E.I. for years before moving to Nova Scotia where she was employed as a housekeeper, a cook for Crocker's Mill, Cross Roads School janitor, store clerk at Prest's General Store, a switchboard operator for the Springside/Cross Roads Telephone Company, as well as a volunteer for many community functions.
She always enjoyed cooking and loved her three daughters and one son, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marion is survived by brother, Henry (Viola) Arsenault; daughters, Mary Larkham, Merigomish, Pictou Co.; Doreen Prest (Daryl Hamilton), Saint John, N.B.; Margaret (Dale) Fisher, Brookfield; son, Walter (Naomi) Prest, Upper Stewiacke.
She was predeceased by husband, Max Hawes Prest; sister, Irene Arsenault and brother, George Arsenault.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
Visitation and reception to follow.
A private family interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Upper Stewiacke, where she will rest with her loving husband, Max.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cedarstone for all of their loving care while Marion resided with them for the past 11 years. Your kindness has not been unnoticed.
