He leaves to mourn his loving family: wife Rita Gear; children: John (Elaine) Gear, Glen (Alison) Gear, Wanda (Brendan) Smith, Stephen (Joanne) Gear and Michael Gear; grandchildren: Billie, Ronnie, Sarah, Matthew, Emily, Olivia, Madison, Liam, Jessica and Jordan; sister: Kathleen Kavanagh; brother-in-law: Richard Marshall. Predeceased by daughter Catherine Gear, parents Alexander & Catherine Gear, sisters Margaret Marshall and Mary-Alice (William) Carney, brothers Michael (Mary) Gear, Edward (Ellen) Gear, Alexander Gear and Thomas (Marian) Gear, brother-in-law Jack Kavanagh. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church and Cemetery, Carbonear, on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 2 P.M. The Family will be receiving relatives and friends at Slade’s Funeral Home, Powell Drive, Carbonear between the hours of Thursday: 2 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9:30 p.m. and Friday: 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The Family will be leaving Slade's Funeral Home at 1:45 p.m. on Friday.
