Margaret Gruben passed away on Wednesday, October 14th, 2009 at the Craik Health Center, Craik, SK. Margaret, at the age of 95 is predeceased by her beloved husband Gus (1991), her daughters Grace Hatfield and Mary Coghill, sons-in-law, Jack Hatfield and James Coghill, grandson Norman Gruben, granddaughter Colleen Hatfield and great-granddaughter Mattie Verbonac. Loving mother of Norman, Karl (Nancy), Steve (Deborah), David, Liz Verbonac (Ray), cherished grandmother of 23, great-grandmother of 32, and great-great-grandmother of 31. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. She is survived by her sister Martha Verhaeghe, predeceased by her 11 siblings. Margaret was born to David and Martha Booth on October 21, 1913. She grew up on the family farm in rural Saskatchewan. She married Sverre Gustav Gruben on September 1st, 1935 in Moose Jaw and the couple raised their 7 children in and around Moose Jaw. They were married for 56 years until Gus passed away in 1991. She had a natural green thumb and as such loved to garden. She loved getting together with friends and family to play various card games and with her hospitable nature enjoyed preparing a meal for family and friends. There will be a Visitation on Wednesday, October 21 from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 22, at 1:30 p.m. at Parkview Funeral Chapel, with cremation to follow. A family interment will be held on Friday, October 23rd at Sunset Cemetery.
