The family of Rosie Messner is saddened to announce her passing on October 16, 2009 at Extendicare, Moose Jaw. Rosie lost a courageous battle with cancer with her loved ones by her side. Rosie was predeceased by her husband, Jacob in 2005, father Frank Morhart, brothers Zack and Frank. She is survived by her eight children: Harvey (Sandra) – Moose Jaw, Marvin –Regina, Richard – Regina, Wayne (Joan) – Saskatoon, Laverne (Donna) – Spring Valley, Jackie (Kelly) Baran–Regina, Valerie (Les) Schick – Spring Valley, Gaileen (Kevin) McLaren – Boharm, 23 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, her mother, Anne Oberderfer – Moose Jaw, brothers, Seigmund – Lanigan, Anton (Mary) - Leroy, John (Muriel) – Moose Jaw, sisters, Regina (Frank) Tress – Moose Jaw, Anne Tarr – Portage La Prairie, Marie (Daryl) Williams – Saskatoon, nephews and nieces. Rosie was born on November 27, 1931 at the family homestead in Spring Valley, Saskatchewan. She received her education at Artesian School and married her sweetheart, Jacob Messner of Bayard in 1949. They farmed at Bayard until 1953, then purchased and moved to the Galilee farm, where they raised their eight children. They retired from farming and moved to Moose Jaw in 1990. Rosie enjoyed being a homemaker with her large garden and excellent cooking abilities. She always had a large meal ready for anybody at anytime. Rosie and Jacob enjoyed travelling – Europe, the Maritimes, many bus trips and their “snowbird” winters to Arizona. They also enjoyed many camping and fishing trips with family and friends. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 10:00a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Neal Osiowy officiating. Prayers will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel. Memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Rosie’s name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St.W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2. In living memory of Rosie, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J.
