Phyllis departed on her next adventure after a six month struggle with cancer.
Born in Glace Bay, N.S., she was an educator, business owner and educational writer. Her long career in education started in a one-room school house in Loch Lomond. Her work adventures with her husband, Laddie, took them to Manitoba and to Northern and Southern Ontario.
Phyllis was a thoughtful and generous person, who was devoted to her family and who made a positive impression on everyone she met. She loved learning and continued to find ways to explore new things, even after the loss of her sight.
Predeceased by sister, Georgia; brothers, Rodger, Tom and Donald-Blair; mother, Florence Daye and father, James Boutilier.
She is survived by husband of 54 years, Wladyslaw 'Laddie'; daughter, Kathryn Golemiec; sons, James Golemiec (Sherri Mellish), Kevin Golemiec (Tena Keefe) and grandchildren, Mandy and Kerry Selig and Paige Stewart.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Colchester Regional Hospital, those who provided palliative care, as well as community and friends for their generosity and support.
Service will be held on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, 2 p.m., Belmont United Baptist Church, Pastor Henry Boehm officiating, reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colchester Hospital Fund.
