SOWERS, LEONA LORRAINE - The death of Leona Sowers of Hanwell, NB occurred on September 30th, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born February 23rd, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Christina (Michaud) Petersen. Leona is survived by her children, Philip Sowers (Joan) of Hanwell, NB and Dale Sowers (Jane) of Fredericton, NB; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Nancy Arnold of Fredericton, NB, Raymar Petersen of Fredericton, NB, Wayne Petersen (Sandra) of Hanwell, NB, Lorene Taylor, of New Denmark, NB, Harley Petersen of New Denmark, NB, Jane Smith (Charles) of Chipman, NB and Loral Christensen of New Denmark, NB and daughter-in-law, Alida Sowers of Fredericton, NB.
She was predeceased by her parents, her life partner, Murray Hamilton; her children, Janet Sowers, Wayne Sowers and Bob Sowers and her siblings, Alice Jensen, Marguerite Petersen, Fred Petersen, Pauline Christensen and Helen Hanson.
Visitation will take place at McAdam's Funeral Home on Monday, October 3rd, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will take place in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 at 1 pm with a reception to follow. Rev. Douglas Moore will officiate. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension.
